From top left Bob, Nigel, Pete and with Roy supervising, the hut gets a well needed new roof.
The late Ted Hogbin supervises a couple of potential new recruits to the hobby on the clubs Drive - a - train layout. Photo taken at one of the three exhibitions we held at Portslade Town Hall.
This gem is Keith Sharp operating our original layout London Road at the Brighton Centre circa 1980 and sitting in the back ground is Keith Carter looking like he's just escaped from a band!
For a slightly more up to date and equally unflattering photo go here
The Grandson of Magnus Volk admires one of the cars from our model of Volks Electric Railway. The layout has been donated to the Brighton Museum and is currently stored.
Two shots of Volks Electric Railway in operation, the left hand view is of the Peter Pans playground station and Paston Place carriage shed and depot. the track still runs . The right hand view is of a train about to leave the Aquarium / Palace Pier station.
Club members Bob and Jonathan Beattie operating what looks like an early version of Highcombe at The Brighton Centre Modelworld back in 1994. How things have changed, Bob has just taken early retirement and Jonathan is now at Uni!
Now this is a very rare photo the Stick and String layout. Based on a Welsh slate mine this layout had working rope incline and all sorts of strange working features. The photo was again taken at the Brighton Centre Modelworld year was198?
Look they point....is it a bird? ....... is it a plane? No ..... its the Hastings Cliff Railway at the 150th Anniversary of the South Eastern and Chatham Railway. A weekend event staged in 198? at Cannon Street station in London. Its a shame we don't have a photo of the railway built by the late Hugh Smale.
We also have a page dedicated to our one and only railtour click here for a trip on the Sussex Rambler.
